Cyclite – Lightest complete bike bag system in the world?

Cyclite was founded in Bavaria in 2020 by Christoph Kirsch and Max Bernsteiner, who went on a mission to create a highly functional bike bag system with focus on extrem lightweight. Their 5-piece set of (quite good looking) bike bags weighs only 984g, with a combined 35L volume. It is available in colors light grey and black.
Handle Bar Aero Bag / 01
The aero bag is mounted in front of the Handle Bar Roll Bag / 01 or used individually and Cyclite claim that thanks to its shape, it even optimizes aerodynamics. On top there are brackets for the navigation system, and cables can be led out of the pocket towards the rear. The circumferential, waterproof zipper offers easy access. The Handle Bar Aero Bag / 01 is best mounted with an aero handlebars, with standard handlebars it must be supported towards the fork crown. It weighs 208 g with a reinforcement frame, 159 g without, and holds an impressive 4.9L.
Frame Bag / 01:
All CYCLITE products are 100% weatherproof thanks to high-frequency welding, including the Frame Bag / 01. It is mounted with four fastening straps underneath the top tube and is compatible with most frame constructions. The shaping reinforcement can be removed so that the weight is reduced from 148 g to 98 g. Its 2.8 L capacity is divided into two separate compartments with waterproof zippers. Inside, there are two mesh pockets.
Saddle Bag / 01
The saddle bag holds up to 12.9L. A compression valve is integrated to allow maximum compression of contents when rolling up the closure. Two aluminum buckles fix the bag to the saddle with the intent to reduce wobbling. The bag includes external elastic rope system for attaching more items and there is a possibility to attach a rear light. Weight is 318g.
Top Tube Bag / 01
The Tob Tube Bag / 01 is mounted on the top tube. It weighs 112 g or 90 g without the removable reinforcement. It is suited for quick access while driving and offers a cable opening for electronic devices and a small side pocket with zipper. The lid is held in place by a magnet. As on the Frame Bag / 01, the print on the material is reflective for increased visibility. The volume is 1.7 liters.
Handle Bar Roll Bag / 01
The handle bar has four attachment points for stability. Like all CYCLITE products, it consists of an extremely robust material that, thanks to thermal welding and PU coating, is both weatherproof and easy to clean. The bag includes a clamping system on the outside. It’s volume is 12.6 L and it weighs198 g.

But now does it compare? I created below table to see it side-by-side with another premium bag brand, Apidura, and I chose their lightweight Race Series. Apidura has several sizes available for some items, in such case I chose the one that is closest in volume to Cyclite.
Cyclite’s system is indeed lighter, even if choosing to use all removable reinforcements parts (which for longer tours or heavier packing you might really want to use). The system volume is impressive for its weight. All this does not come cheap, at 619.50 EUR (including sales tax), but if you are out to save maximum weight and still want a kit that can pack a lot and looks good, then it might just be just right for you!
