Shimano recalls Pro Vibe alloy stems

Shimano, the parent company of Pro, has issued a recall notice for its alloy Vibe stem due to a defect caused by corrosion. The recall applies to all stems sold after May 2020, as certain batches of the stem have been found to develop cracks in specific conditions. According to Shimano, the cracks can form in the clamping area of the fork steerer tube, posing a potential safety hazard for riders. If the crack is not detected by the user in time, it could grow until a complete separation of the stem. If you have purchased an affected stem, Shimano recommends that you stop using it immediately and contact the dealer from whom you purchased it. Dealers have been authorized to provide a replacement stem (depending on availability) or offer a refund for the recalled product.

Shimano says any questions should be directed to provibe_recall@shimano-eu.com, and Cyclists in Australia should send questions to pro_recall@shimano.com.au.
