CYCLITE adds updates and new sizes to its ultralight bag system

Ultra-light luggage expert CYCLITE presents eight new products for ambitious bikepackers in the 2023 bikepacking season. The bags and accessories expand the five-piece bikepacking bag set presented last year and thus offer more options for putting together the optimal transport constellation for the bike depending on requirements, tour length and personal preferences. The new products build on the previous collection and expand the their super-light bikepacking bag set. They are 100% weatherproof, robust, and guarantee a stable fit. Bags in the black colorway are available now, light grey ones will be from June onwards,

New in 2023:

SADDLE BAG SMALL / 01

The SADDLE BAG SMALL / 01 is a smaller and therefore even lighter version of the SADDLE BAG / 01. This makes it the perfect companion for all adventures where you want to be compact and light, such as a spontaneous overnighter, shorter bikepacking trips, or an unsupported multi-day race. The smaller saddle bag with a volume of 8 liters and a weight of just 228 g is perfect for storing things for the night, such as a sleeping bag, insulating mat or a change of clothes. Practical features are the roll closure, an elastic belt system, reflectors, a lamp holder and the well-known and stable SR system for vibration-free attachment under the saddle. EUR 149.90

TOP TUBE BAG LARGE / 01

TOP TUBE BAG LARGE / 01 is the bigger sister of TOP TUBE BAG / 02, and with a volume of 2.2 liters, it is the solution for all those who are on the road for a long time, have no space for a FRAME BAG in their frame or who want the ‘luxury’ of more storage space with direct access while rolling. The bag has very large access to the front compartment, which is closed with a flap and Fidlock magnetic buckle. The rear compartment opens with a central, water-resistant zip and is used to stow things that are rarely accessed during the ride. The tapered shape avoids contact with the thighs. Just as in the smaller version, details such as a small mesh pocket inside and the cable outlet can also be found in TOP TUBE BAG LARGE / 01. Dimensions: 42cm length x 12cm height x 6 cm width. FRAME BAG LARGE / 01

The FRAME BAG LARGE / 01 is the larger alternative to the FRAME BAG / 01. It has almost 3.6 liters of storage volume and therefore more space for centrally and aerodynamically placed luggage (including tools, hydration bladder, power bank, lock). During the design phase, attention was paid that even with a smaller frame size, there is still room for a drinking bottle in the frame triangle. The bag is divided into two large compartments, has another side pocket for credit cards, ID or cash, two inner mesh pockets for small items and a key hook. On the front of the bag, there is a covered opening for the passage of power cables or a drinking tube. Dimensions: 44cm length x 22cm height x 6 cm width. EUR 139.90

FOOD POUCH / 01

Food pouches are all-purpose solutions for fast access and transport near the stem. Whether snacks, drinking bottles or small clothing such as items such as gloves, everything that needs to be quickly and effortlessly accessed while on the move can be stowed away in a pouch. Even for collecting garbage, like food wrappers, a pouch is excellent. CYCLITE’s FOOD POUCH / 01 can be attached to both sides of the stem, so a combination of two FOOD POUCHES is possible. The FOOD POUCH / 01 is open at the top for easy and quick access, but its height prevents the contents from falling out. The bottom is made out of a mesh material, which keeps the bag clean. FIRST AID KIT / 01

The FIRST AID KIT / 01 is a ultra-light first aid kit specially developed for the needs of ambitious bike packers. The contents, put together in collaboration with paramedics and in consideration of cycling-specific requirements, are packed compactly in an ultra-light bag. A circumferential zip allows quick and clear access. FIRST AID KIT / 01 fits nicely in the CYCLITE handle bar aero bag and is held in place by Velcro. A sticker for the outside of the bag is included so that the set can be found quickly by helpers in an emergency. The contents of this kit are: Rescue blanket • Large wound dressing • Small wound dressing • Gauze bandage • Ointment wound dressing • 2 pairs of disposable gloves • 4 plasters • CPR breathing mask • 50 ml wound disinfectant. MUSETTE / 01

MUSETTE / 01 is a development based on the shoulder bag that has long been used in road bike races for the time-saving and temporary transport of provisions. The quick shopping stop is a regular companion on unsupported bikepacking adventures and races. When shopping, a large bag is an advantage, which you can then throw over your shoulder so that you don’t lose any time stowing supplies away. Classic musettes annoyingly slip back and forth on the back when riding, so CYCLITE prevents this with an additional strap, which is hooked diagonally into the carrying strap – resulting in a central and stable fit on your back, even when heavily loaded with groceries. Volume: 5.1 l; weight 42g. EUR 29.90

AERO MOUNT / 01

The AERO MOUNT / 01 is a practical solution for attaching a light or bike computer to the HANDLE BAR AERO BAG / 01. The aero mount, which was 3D printed in Germany, can be easily, quickly, and stably attached to the existing mounts on the top of HANDLE BAR AERO BAG / 01 and serves as an additional attachment location when you run out of space on the handlebar for attaching front lamps, bicycle computers or adapters for smartphones. The dimensions of the cylinder are 9cm in width x 31,8cm in diameter (a common handlebar diameter). The wight is 26 g. EUR 29.90

TOP TUBE BAG / 02

The TOP TUBE BAG / 02 is the further development of the most popular Cyclite bag TOP TUBE BAG / 01. The large opening with a snap-on lid, which offers easy access and overview of the contents, is also the central, unique function of this version. In addition, the top tube bag has been optimized in various details. The lid of the TOP TUBE BAG / 02 is closed reliably and intuitively with a Fidlock magnetic buckle. The bottom of the bag in the new version features light padding to safely transport smartphones or other electronics, even on rough tours. The width of the bag has been slightly reduced and the sides have been stiffened to prevent contact with the thighs, even with an extremely sporty cycling style. Last but not least, the TOP TUBE BAG / 02 is now bolt-on ready and can also be screwed directly to the frame without the supplied Velcro straps – a feature frequently requested by customers. TOP TUBE BAG / 02 is the ideal solution for transporting snacks and pieces of equipment that you want to have quick access to. EUR 89.90, available from June 2023 onwards. The price is the same as for the previous version, which is still available for sale.

Summary

After Eurobie 2021, when Cyclite introduced themselves to the bikepacking world as the lightest system available, I checked those claims by comparing their bags to the lightest bags available from Apidura. I have now updated the overview as I found that the new additional sizes offered by CYCLITE actually match the sizes from Apidura better, making the comparison easier. If using the side wall reinforcements/dividers (and I think you most likely will), then the product offering from Apidura and Cyclite is quite comparable in weight, albeit you get 1.5 L more space with Cyclite. In the end, weight is not all that matters, so head over to their website to check more details.
