Yeelock – a fingerprint sensor enabled lock for the disc of your bike
When locking your bike, different scenarios require different solutions, one of them being never leaving your bike unattended and thus not needing a lock in the first place.
Then there are those locks that weigh 5 pounds and hold off a thief equipped with an axle grinder for at least half an hour, and locks that can be cut in an instant with simple wire cutters but might be good enough if you are in a low-risk area and within eye-sight of your bike.
Generally, the trade-offs are between security and weight: the heavier, the safer; the lighter, the easier to break.
Yeelock fits somewhere in the middle of the weight range. At 230g, it compares to a cable lock such as the Abus 408K/65 level 2 cable lock (270g), is much lighter compared to a max security lock such as the Abus BORDO Alarm Level 10 foldable lock (1780g) and much heavier as the super-lightweight Z LOK from Hiplock (20g).
What makes the Yeelock unique is its compact size, its unique locking position (borrowed from motorcycle locks) at the disc rotor and the fingerprint sensor.

It attaches to the disc brake rotor and can be opened via a fingerprint sensor.
Does the Yeelock provide much security – not by the way it is attached, as the wheel with the lock can be simply removed, or the whole bike carried away. Is it good enough to deter any opportunity thief while you are zipping a coffee nearby – very likely. However, then you might want to consider the much lighter Z LOK (shown above).
The fingerprint sensor is an excellent addition, it’s quick, and you don’t need to bring a key or remember a number combination. You don’t have to trust the electronics fully, as should the sensor ever fail, the lock can also be used with a conventional key.
