Aeroe Spider Rear Rack – a versatile mounting system for any bike

Brothers Mike and Paddy Maguire from New Zealand have experience designing bike racks: They invented the original quick-mount-release bike rack, now known as the ‘Tour Rack’ sold by Thule. Their new product, the Aeroe Spider rear rack and the bags/pods made for it are a great-looking and versatile rack/bag system.
The rack attaches to the seat stays of almost any bike via rubberized straps, including carbon fiber road bikes that typically do not have rack mounts and full suspension bikes. According to Aeroe, due to the soft attachment points, there is no risk of damaging carbon frames when fastened to torque specifications (they recommend 4nm and to approach recommended / max torque from below).

The cradle on top can be rotated 990 deg to make space to accommodate dropper seat posts, and two additional cradles can be attached to the sides.
You can use the rack with cradle and bags or their sleek-looking “pods.” Aeroe says the racks and accompanying bags/pods are virtually rattle-free. Aeroe recommends a maximum load of 16kg in total; the max for each cradle is 4kg, and for each pod, 7 kilograms.

Head over to their website for more details. You’ll also find their front rack there and many images of the various ways people use the rack and bag system.
