Arclight pedal light: A new smart product on Kickstarter from Redshift
Redshift, a company who pitched their first successful product on Kickstarter in 2013, and makers of the Shockstop stem and seat posts, as well as the Redshift Aero System, have developed a new product, this time not for the competitive cyclist, but rather for the commuter and casual bike rider, the Arclight Pedals.
Arclight bike pedals include 4 smart (and they are smart!) lights, that slide in and out of the pedal body for charging. They are designed to leverage the movement of the pedals to create an unmistakable visible appearance. This enables a rider with Arclights to stand out and be instantly recognized as a cyclist. Arclights can be seen from all angles, a full 360 degrees.
The light modules feature sensors which make the pedals simple and intuitive to use. This includes Auto On/Off functionality
where the lights automatically turn on when you start riding, and off when you park your bike. In addition, and that is the smart part, the pedals can determine orientation and set the forward facing light to white and the rear facing light to red.
The lights can also be used as rear of front light, in which case they automatically switch to white or red light depending on whether they are mounted in the front or at the back.
Arclight pedals ship with 2 pedals (left and right), 4 rechargeable light modules, and a
USB charging hub. Arclights carry a 1 year warranty.

Since Redshift have proven to deliver on their campaigns, I’d say this is a fairly safe product to invest in. But as always with crowdfunding, be aware that you are not buying a product, but rather investing (which can lead to loss of investment, albeit very unlikey in this case).
