ARCHER Components Adds Sprint Battery Upgrade for D1x Trail Users
I have previously written about the D1x Trail shifter, that allows you to convert any mechanical set-up to wireless shifting, no matter how many speeds you run (and since each shift point can be tuned individually, you can even adjust for a wonky cassette on the fly!)
Read about it here: Archer Components D1x Trail
They have now designed a new battery with increased voltage via a 3-cell setup from 7.4v (standard 2-cell battery system) to 11.1v for up to 50 percent faster shifting. Existing D1x Trail shifter users can order the new Sprint Battery upgrade kit — which includes 3 batteries, a longer red anodized battery door, and a new 4-position charger.
While the Sprint Battery’s increased voltage makes shifts super quick, you also need to charge more frequently. You get approximately 20 hours of ride time per charge (or ~10,000 shifts, whichever comes first). Battery level can be easily checked trailside on the shifter or using the Archer app. See the comparison table below:
The Battery upgrade kit sells for USD 59.99 and will be sold at the Oct. 7-10 Sea Otter Classic in California, as well as in their online shop.
I have ordered the D1x trail with the original batteries myself back in July this year to put on my girl’s bike, but not yet done so. Once its set-up, you can expect an update to my original post, with the all the good and not so good.
