Child bike seat and stroller in one – get around with ease!
Most products on YellowCrank are aimed at the avid cyclist, but this one is different. It’s aimed at parents that have a young child and happen to ride a bike for everyday transportation. It is so ingenious, however, that you might wonder why no other company in the bike-seat / stroller industry had thought of it before. Well, Lycke von Schantz, Påhoj’s founder, did.
The Påhoj bike seat / stroller started as design master theses, went through an unsuccessful Kickstarter Campaign, then won recognition and awards from the IF International Forum Design GMBH, the Swedish Toy & Baby Association, Eurobike and among others, and is now a product ready to be purchased.
The Påhoj bike seat / stroller attaches to the bicycle’s seat tube via an adapter, which is suitable for standard bicycles and approved for tube frames with a round cross-section and a diameter of 28-40mm (due to strength properties, the adapter should not be mounted onto carbon fibre frames.)
Taking the bike seat off the bike and turning it into a stroller is as easy as sliding it off the adapter, and the same goes for the reverse direction. This swift transformation allows you to bring your child on your bike to any place accessible by bike and then continue with the stroller. This solves an actual problem of not being able to have both stroller and bike transportation available on the same trip, thus for example having to resort to taking a car or public transport in order to bring a stroller or going by bike and then having to carry the child later on.
You can start using Påhoj with your child from the moment your child can sit upright unattended (on average, this is at about 9-12 months), till around 4 years or with a maximum weight of 22kg or a maximum height of 110cm, whichever comes first.
Påhoj is designed to fulfil EU safety standards of both child bike seat and stroller. The seat includes a five-point safety harness, front wheels rotate 360° with a swivel lock, back wheels are suspended and it’s weight is 6,75 kg / 14 lbs (+2 kg for the adapter).
